Recently, we read an article on the Discovery website about the Kepler Space Telescope and the possibility that it has located evidence of alien life. In this case, in the form of a giant megastructure orbiting a distant sun.

The space telescope is designed to search for exoplanets. It does this by tracking planet shaped objects as they pass across the surface of the star the telescope is aimed at. By tracking objects passing across the sun, the telescope can determine how many planetary bodies exist in that system and how large they are.
For the star in question, the telescope is picking up up an object that isn’t planet shaped. In fact, it appears to be an object that is not only orbiting but surrounding the star. Since no known natural phenomena can explain this scenario, scientists are speculating the object may be manufactured. An orbiting object built around a star may be an alien race using the megastructure to harness the energy of the star more effectively. It may be the ultimate power source.

Whatever the object is, it could very well be evidence that human beings aren’t the only intelligent life in the universe.
This could seriously be one of the most exciting scientific discoveries in years. We find it exciting. Chances are, this won’t have a huge impact on real estate or the value of property in Southern Utah, but it is an interesting article and it could change many people’s lives if it proves to be true.
