In 2017, figures put the total number of people living in the designated metro area at 165,662. That’s up 4% from 2016. Interestingly, most of the growth experienced in the state of Utah is from natural growth or to put it more plainly, births. But in St. George, people are moving in. Not only retirees from Northern Utah and Southern California, but from an increasingly diverse cross-section of new workers, students and others.
Historically, St. George growth mirrors the growth experienced in Las Vegas. But it seems now, the Southern Utah mecca has found its own steam and is drawing residents without the influence of Las Vegas or the rest of Utah.
