Not surprisingly, most of the states are in the midwest.  The five states ranked are Idaho, Arizona, South Dakota, Colorado and Utah.  For those of us in the industry, this doesn’t come as a surprise.  As a whole, Utah has weathered the recession better than most places.  Even our little corner of the state did significantly better than Nevada (which seems to be a more accurate indicator of our community as St. George is closer to Las Vegas than most major cities in Utah).  We share a lot of the same industry as Las Vegas area.  Tourism and building are two huge areas of business.

Yet even so, Southern Utah recovered quicker and has come back stronger.

What that means for buyers and sellers in the area is great!  It means builders are building here again and people are buying the homes they’re offering.  This means one of our strongest industries is coming back and people are working again.  There are properties on the market and customers waiting to take the plunge and buy homes.
