Renae Stucki Realtor wanted to bring some laws to your attention that start today in most Utah areas.  They’re mostly self explanatory but they’re all important enough to be aware of.  You can read an article about it on KSL’s website and the link for that is right HERE.

Among some of the lesser known changes to Utah law are the official switch of the state tree from the Blue Spruce to a Quaking Aspen and hunting permits for youth hunters between the ages of 11 and 12.

However, there are some serious laws taking effect today.  Drones, Revenge Pornography, Carbon Monoxide Detection in K-12 schools and Voter Lists are among the big draws and if you’re directly affected by any of these, they’re worth paying attention to.

The biggest media draw is the new cell phone laws.  Anyone caught typing on a phone could face a fine.  The only acceptable uses of a cell phone while driving are talking into the device or using it as a vehicular GPS.  The standard fine is $100 per offense and if the driver causes damage to another person the fine increases and jail time occurs to the tune of $1,000 or more.

There’s nothing new to the law.  For people who drive responsibly, pulling off to the side to dial or
text is a habit and you see it often.  So it shouldn’t be a great upheaval for people with good driving habits.  It might be more of a conflict for those who aren’t as careful.

Be aware, these changes are now law.  And you can be pulled over at any time.  So watch out, folks!
