According to an article on CNN Money, millions of Americans who are renting are actually wanting to break into home ownership. If not, stick around here and let’s talk about recent polls and how 25% of Americans polled who say they rent have also expressed interest in purchasing a home this year. That’s a huge percentage of Americans who are ready to jump into ownership. Why then, are so few of them actually making the transition to ownership?
Part of the problem is a lack of inventory. I know you think that’s a bit of a contradiction considering how I’m going on and on about the amount of properties on the market in Southern Utah and yeah, that’s true. But this is a national poll and it isn’t location specific. So while Southern Utah may be doing ok as far as properties for sale, the rest of the country isn’t faring as well.
An aspect of this is because a lot of the buyers shopping in various markets are being priced out of the homes for sale. Whether it’s by fees, mortgage rates or high costs due to demand, many renters aren’t able to transition to the ownership market.
But that’s why it’s so important to hire a real estate agent. They can help you navigate the process and negotiate better deals. Ones that can actually help you afford to make the move.
