In case you haven’t heard of this remarkable program, Castaways is a program that pairs rescued abused and neglected dogs with prison inmates. Over time, the animals are re-socialized and able to be placed in homes rather than being put down.
The program also helps in the rehabilitation of the inmates who are given responsibility to care for the animals, train them and bond with them.
At a time when so many things seem wrong in the world, this program gives all of us at Lime hope for a better tomorrow. There are people who still care about the lives around us that too many don’t value. Every year, hundreds of unwanted pets are put to sleep in shelters across the US.
